The first step towards their receiving Jesus at the table of the Lord this spring is to receive First Reconciliation. The first of two sessions will be held January 24th at 4:30PM
Each child MUST be accompanied by at least one adult. The service should take no more than 1 hour. Children should be dressed nicely, as they would be for church. Suits, dresses, etc, are not required. We want the children to be comfortable.
The first time a child receives this sacrament can be stressful. It's not easy for any of us to admit we have done something wrong and are in need of forgiveness. It is often difficult for young children to separate things they do "on purpose" that may be wrong choices and everyday "accidents". Please take some time to review the First Reconciliation book with your child and go over what actions they may want to confess to the priest. We also have resources on our
website.
If it has been a while since you yourself have received this sharing in God's mercy, you may want to think about a return trip soon, so you and your child can both share in this experience. The sacrament is celebrated every Saturday here at Blessed Sacrament in the church 11 am-11:45 am, or you can contact the parish office to set up an appointment with Fr. Brian or Fr. Paul at another time.
